The #Eagles have reached out to the #Bills about a possible trade for LeSean McCoy, per source. Philly just lost RB Jay Ajayi for the season due to a torn ACL. McCoy spent the first 6 seasons of his career with the Eagles and is the franchise all-time leading rusher.

This news doesn’t come as a surprise. The Eagles reportedly tried to acquire McCoy — Philadelphia’s all-time leading rusher — in a trade with the Bills LAST year as well.
From a football standpoint, McCoy makes some sense for the Eagles. Philly needs help at running back with Jay Ajayi out for the season. The 30-year-old McCoy is still one of the better backfield starters in the league and he can contribute as both a rusher and a receiver.
McCoy also fits in with the Eagles’ salary cap situation, especially after Philadelphia cleared some room by restructuring Fletcher Cox’s deal. McCoy only costs $4.28 million in cap space right now. He’s also under contract for 2019 the Eagles wouldn’t owe him any guaranteed money after acquiring him in a trade.
It remains to be seen what kind of draft compensation it would take to acquire McCoy. The Eagles are operating from a spot of desperation (to some extent, at least) so the Bills have leverage.
Another thing to consider with a potential McCoy trade is how he had some serious off-field accusations lobbed at him this offseason. Shady could potentially be facing punishment from the league via the personal conduct policy, not to mention any legal ramifications.
UPDATE: NFL insider Ian Rapoport sent out a tweet saying “the interest in a homecoming is real.” Then he deleted it and seemed to downplay the possibility in a new tweet. Hmmm.
Should the Eagles trade for LeSean McCoy?
